Lyft

Transportation is one of the most common needs to go unmet for 211 callers across the U.S. In 2018, United Way partnered with Lyft, the fastest growing rideshare company in the U.S. Together, we provided over 12,000 free rides to people with specific healthcare and employment needs, including veterans who otherwise lacked transportation means.

Expanded in 2019, 211s in twenty-five U.S. cities began providing free Lyft rides to individuals experiencing transportation barriers. These trips helped move callers toward self-sufficiency, granting them access to resources like employment, healthcare, food, public benefits, and education. United Way and 211 also partner with Lyft to provide rides during times of disaster and crisis, including helping people get to medical appointments and grocery stores during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
